ARCH1101 Studio Session One

My best piece of creative work at high school: the above coffee table was my Major Design Project for the HSC subject Design and Technology which I constructed in my final year at high school. The coffee table required creative thinking in it's design and is unique in that satisfies modern day functions and is an effective 'stowaway'. The coffee table houses a hide-away book and magazine store, a display showcase and a remote control holder. (A piece of glass, not shown in the picture, sits atop the middle cavity to allow access.)

The building that inspired me to become an Architect: The Palm Islands project is just one of the current developments in Dubai which truly inspires me to become an architect. To me it represents thinking out-of-the-square on a humongous scale, which demands worldwide attention. It would have been a daunting assignment to have undertaken, but with the guidance from Architects, and the help of other disciplines, this project will soon be a significant feat for humanity.

An original photograph of something beautiful: the above image was a hastily taken photo of the setting sun one afternoon which displays the ever present, everlasting beauty of nature, without any human interference. I truly love nature however sadly as I live in suburbia I rarely get to experience it's beauty. This image depicts the presence and beauty of nature all around us.
